目前,在美国排名前10位的致死和致残原因中,慢性疾病占了7项(如癌症和糖尿病)1。其中大多数疾病的预防和治疗必须解决其与肥胖的密切相关性。肥胖或超重者占美国人口的2/3以上1,在初级医疗实践中更是超过这一比例2。一些专业组织目前已将体质指数(BMI,体重[kg]除以身高[m]的平方)≥30的肥胖归类为一种疾病3。本篇综述重点讨论在临床环境中如何对单独或并发慢性疾病的超重(BMI≥25)或肥胖进行管理。
